Opel Zafira voted "Family Car of the Year 2007" in the Netherlands

The Opel Zafira has been elected "Family Car of the Year 2007" in the Netherlands. Consumers voted 'en masse' in favor of the Zafira, which, with 50 percent of the votes, outclassed the other two nominees, the Nissan Note and the Seat Leon. The award ceremony took place last Sunday, November 5, at the last day of the 'Young Family Exhibition' in Utrecht.

The election of the Family Car of the Year is a yearly event, organized by a parental magazines cluster and the biggest Dutch magazine, "ANWB Kampioen" (circulation of over 3 million). This year, more than 20,000 people cast their vote via the magazines' websites and at the exhibition itself.

The Opel Zafira is the 9th winner of this esteemed title and the first Opel to win. Recent winners were the Mazda 5, the VW Touran, the Toyota Corolla Verso and the Peugeot 307.

In addition to the title and the honor, General Motors Netherlands also received a check of €22,500 in advertising money.
