World premiere for new Astra and Chevrolet Lacetti Diesel
The Bologna Motor Show opens its doors for the 31st time from December 7 – 17. The top GM attraction is the world premiere of the new Astra, boasting a refined design and expanded technology range.
In future, Astra customers will have a choice of eleven different engines from 90 to 240 hp. The Astra engine range is expanded with two new highly efficient 1.6-liter gasoline engines (85 kW/115 hp and 132 kW/180 hp turbo engine) and two 1.7 CDTI common-rail turbo-diesel units (81 kW/110 hp and 92 kW/125 hp, replacing the 1.9 CDTI units with 74 kW/100 hp and 88 kW/120 hp as of spring 2007).
Another GM highlight for Motor Show visitors in Bologna is the world premiere of the diesel-powered Chevrolet Lacetti/Nubira range. The three compact models Lacetti, Lacetti/Nubira sedan and Lacetti/Nubira station wagon will be available with a 2.0-liter 89 kW/121 hp common rail unit as from March 2007.
In addition to the two world premieres, GM presents a range of Italian debuts in Bologna: the new GT roadster and Antara both make their first public appearance in Italy, as does the Saab BioPower Hybrid Concept car. Cadillac debuts the new luxury SUV Escalade, the new edition of the SRX, with a significantly enhanced interior and optional rear-wheel drive for the V6 model. It also premieres the four-wheel drive version of its flagship STS and the especially powerful V-series of the luxury XLR roadster. Corvette displays the 2007 ZO6, the fastest and most powerful production Corvette ever. Also represented in Bologna is GM's HUMMER brand with the H2 and H3 models on display.
