New Corsavan: World premiere at Brussels Motor Show

Following the Corsavan Concept study’s successful premiere at the recent Paris Motor Show, the production version of the compact city van will make its debut early next year at the Brussels Motor Show (January 13 – 21, 2007). Based on the new three-door Corsa, the city delivery van can be ordered now and will be available at dealerships as of April 2007.

The development team combined the acclaimed new Corsa’s sporty design with a payload increase of 30 percent compared to the previous model. The expanded selection of economic and powerful engines now includes four variants, ranging from the 1.0-liter TWINPORT gasoline engine with 44 kW/60 hp to the 1.3 CDTI common-rail turbo-diesel with 66 kW/90 hp.

Commenting on the newcomer, Jamal N. El-Hout, GM Europe Vice President, Product Planning and CV Operations, said: “Opel/Vauxhall offers a wide selection of commercial vehicles, with a van suitable for every customer and need. With its fresh design and practical characteristics, the new Corsavan is an enhancement to our commercial vehicle range and will certainly contribute to the brand’s ongoing success.” El-Hout expects the Corsavan to be especially popular in Portugal, Spain and the United Kingdom, where the predecessor model also enjoys great success.

The new Corsavan fits easily into tight parking spaces thanks to its compact dimensions (3,999 mm long, 1,944 mm wide including exterior mirrors and 1,488 mm high, turning circle 10.1 meter). These proportions in no way detract from the agile city van’s transport capacity. The Corsavan’s large, flat loading area and increased load height of 924 millimeters provide a capacity of 919 liters with a maximum payload of 475 kilograms.
